The Brecon 10 - Silver Jubilee Year!

The “BRECON 10” takes place in the beautiful and picturesque market town of Brecon, Powys, at the foothills of the well-known Brecon Beacons. The course covers an interesting and very scenic route, starting and finishing at Brecon’s athletic track. The event started in 1984 is popular with athletes from all over the UK. Many of the runners choose to stay the weekend to include a little socialising or family break. There are some excellent hotels, guesthouses and campsites available locally at reasonable costs.

The course has been accurately measured and has an Athletics Association of Wales permit. For the serious runner it is a fast course and anyone looking to gain a Personal Best should consider the Brecon 10 to achieve it. There are many prize categories and all participants receive a commemorative event tee shirt. For the not so serious or ambitious runner there is also a 2 Mile Off Road Fun Run. This is ideal for juniors and all the family. As with the main race this starts and finishes on the athletic track with the remainder being run on grass. Again all participants receive a commemorative medal, with plaques being presented to the first 3 boys and first 3 girls. There is also a plaque for the first school team (first 3 to score).

This year the Brecon 10 is pleased to host the East Wales 10 Mile Championship. You can view the eligibility rules and prize categories for the Championship on the entry form.

ActionAid are proud to be associated with this year’s Brecon 10 mile race. Running the Brecon 10 is quite a challenge, but by getting sponsored to run the event you will not only be gaining personal support and giving yourself an added incentive to complete the course, but you will be raising valuable funds to help ActionAid carry out their vital work around the world.
